Pregnancy and Labour

When we found out I was pregnant I was already entering the 7th week of pregnancy, it was a bit of a shock but we were absolutly overjoyed! We wanted to have children and the timing might not have been perfect but turns out it wasn't the worst timing either since Tristan was working and I was thinking about not continuing the course I was studying anyways.
It started of very well, no morning sickness, no backache, nothing. I thought I was one of the lucky ones to have a perfect pregnancy with none of the "bad" symptoms...Turn out I was very wrong haha. It started about 3 months into the pregnancy, horrible morning sickness that was more like all day sickness, actually don't know why they call it morning sickness because it can come at any time of the day or night or even be constant for many hours... backache and extreme PGP ( pelvic gridle pain, this is when the peliv bones start to separate to make room for the baby to come out) and I'm not even going to talk about when the ligaments start streching as the belly grows!!! Now I make it sound really bad haha it was a bit at first because it's really hard to take in that it's actually your baby growing inside you, especially early on when there are not yet any visible signs that your pregnant and you can't feel the baby moving. But once that starts it's just amazing!!! Feeling the baby kick and move around and knowing that he's growing and getting ready to come out so you can finally see him/her, your own child!  Overall it was a very good pregnancy cause Andreas was very healthy all way through so no complications. But 9 months is LONG, by the end the only thing I wanted was form him to come out so I could hold him in my arms. The day before due date we went to see my midwife for a check up and Tristan asked her if there was any way to make labour start, and apparently spicy food could have this effect....Whatever I though but we went for lunch at an asian resturant and asked for the spiciest dish they had haha. And believe it or not but at 3 in the morning on due date the first contraction woke me up :) at the time I didnt think anything of it, thought it was just a random contraction so went back to sleep but in the morning I was still having contractions, about every 10 minutes. They weren't very painful but getting a bit stonger as the day went on. At 15h I had to be at the hospital for another check up and this is when it started getting worse, struggled slightly to walk to the bus and the to the hospital and it just got worse and worse  so the doctor checked me to make sure it really was labour and not a false alarm, and sure enough it was my little baby boy getting ready to come out:) Afterwards i met up with Tristan who just finished work and then went home, laid on the bed to endure these contractions while Tristan was having fun timing them :) at about 23h it was hurting BAD so we decided to go to the hospital, I honestly thought I was soon gonna hold my darling baby in my arm cause it was hurting quite a bit and I didn't think it was going to get that much worse..haha.. I was extremely wrong!!!! I was only one centimetre open so got sent home and told to call them when I thought it was time, if the water broke or if I had any bleeding. At 6 in the morning we went back because of bleeding. Luckily thee was nothing wrong and i finally got admitted to the delivery ward. A midwife came to see me and after  a while she wanted to send me home again cause apparently this wasn't "the real thing". to say I was pissed off is not the right word but cant find any appropriate one haha.... I couldnt believe i was in this much pain and it was even labour???? anyways went back home again... in the evening I couldn't take it anymore, i was scared, exhausted and in PAIN haha so went back again and this time admitted for real :) the stupid midwife who told me it wasn't labour was obviously very very wrong haha.
I had been planning all along to only use gas and air as painrelief so they hooked up the machine and let me try it....useless, didnt take away any of the pain and made me very dizzy and out of control so I decided to have an epidural. There was a bit of a wait to get it set up so continued with the gas and air anyways while waiting, I got slightly obsessed and didnt stop breathing it in even between contractions, guess I was desperate for pain relief haha. Anyways once I got the epidural I was in heaven, it was amazing :) this was at about 21h and after this everything went really really fast. Tristan went back home to get our camera and meanwhile the midwife checked me again to see who far along labour was....and she could actually see my little babys head so delivery had started and the only thing left was for me to push... I was terrified, I wasnt expecting it and Tristan wasn't back yet !!! Luckily they had to prepare everything for the delivery so Tristan had time to come back <3 And after 10 mins of pushing I finally had him in my arms and he was perfect, more than prefect <3 <3 He was a healthy boy, 49,2 cm and 3450 gr. In general a long but good delivery and Tristan and I were happier than ever!
